These slide gate wheels are manufactured using only premium UHMW (Ultrahigh Molecular Weight) polyethylene. This durable, wear-resistant plastic is a far superior material for wheels, wearing up to 5 times longer than cast iron. The oilite bronze bushing requires little or no lubrication
UHMW is an Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. UHMW is such a unique and useful material because of its combination of excellent properties – outstanding abrasion resistance, superior impact resistance, non-sticking, self-lubricating properties and excellent mechanical properties. It has the highest known impact strength of any thermoplastic currently available. UHMW has a very low coefficient of friction and extremely low moisture absorption.
